Lift Shaft Safety Gates aim to provide the ultimate edge protection, both preventing workers from falling into lift openings and unauthorised access to the lift. They are an essential piece of edge protection equipment on multi-story construction sites in ensuring health and safety guidelines are met and employee wellbeing is maintained.
Made from aluminium, the lightweight, durable material covers the entire length of the lift opening and is also capable of covering multiple entrances at once. For these reasons, lift shaft safety gates are usually one of the last pieces of equipment to come off site and are the number one solution for providing the best possible protection against lift openings on construction sites.

What are Lift Shaft Safety Gates?
Often referred to as Lift Shaft protection, Edge Protection for Lift Shafts or simply Safety Gates. Safety Gates for lifts are an essential part of any onsite Health and Safety Policy and Lift Shaft safety recommended practice
Our Irish Supplied Safety gates are BS EN:13374 tested and certified system can be installed on any surface, including glass or polished concrete, and will be configured for your specific requirements.
The systems can be face fit, reveal fit or completely free standing and can also be pre-installed on prefabricated lift-shafts and modular buildings or installed as the core is formed from the jump prior to floors going in.
The system comes in several variants including, Standard, Solid (smoke & fire reduction) and the patented Double access gate which aids access and egress into the shaft while loading out.

Sharkey Lifting offer a full installation & removal service, we also offer training for clients who wish to install the Lift Safety Gates themselves.
Both options are supported with maintenance and repair service.

SAFEGATE Standard
SAFEGATE Standard lift shaft safety gate provides the perfect solution to ensure employee protection against open lift shafts and electrical areas in multi-story construction sites. The elevator safety gate has also undergone testing which confirms it meets BS EN 13374:2013 Class A & B standards.
SAFEGATE Solid (Smoke and Fire Reduction)
SAFEGATE Solid (Smoke and Fire Reduction) lift shaft safety gate is an excellent alternative to the SAFEGATE Standard gate when protection against smoke and fire may be necessary. To achieve ultimate fire protection, the elevator safety gate is tightly fitted to the surrounding structure to minimise the gaps where fire and smoke can escape. This lift safety gate is widely used and has previously played an active role in fire prevention on building sites.
SAFEGATE Double
SAFEGATE Double lift safety gate aims to help provide access to the lift shaft whilst loading materials out of it and simultaneously maintaining employee safety. Furthermore, the 1600mm opening means that removal of this edge protection is not required upon lift completion and can remain as a permeant form of edge protection.

What dimensions are your lift shaft safety gates?
Our gates are able to cover a range of widths (the largest one to date has been 15 meters) but there is potential to cover wider widths if required. Our highest gate reaches 2.12 metres but netting or coverboards can be expertly attached if the opening is taller. We also offer a range of shorter elevator safety gates which are available upon request.

How long does installation take?
